Our region

Serra de Teresópolis has a great biodiversity of fauna and flora, guaranteeing a true spectacle of nature. The Serra dos Órgãos National Park is filled with 11 thousand hectares of native forest that extend through Petrópolis, Magé and Guapimirim.

 

The region is full of orchids, as the low temperature favors cultivation. Also noteworthy are the countless trees, vegetables, palms, bamboo, taquaras, fruit trees, bromeliads, begonias, jacarandas, jequitibás, ipês and maçarandubas.

 

The fauna is also very rich, in the Serra dos Órgãos National Park 462 species of birds, 83 of mammals and 101 of amphibians have already been registered, in addition to many endemic and threatened species.

 

The Hotel lives up to the name Urikana, which originates from a Palm tree predominant in the region. Our space is very green, with many options for ecotourism and beautiful landscapes.

Serra dos Orgãos National Park

One of the main tourist spots in the mountainous region of Rio, the Serra dos Órgãos National Park is the third oldest Brazilian national park and a reference throughout the country, due to its natural attributes and the diverse options for adventurers. The park was created in 1939 and, in 2008, it was expanded to its current area, about 20 thousand hectares of preserved Atlantic Forest. It covers the municipalities of Teresópolis, Petrópolis, Magé and Guapimirim.

In addition to harboring a rich fauna and flora typical of the Brazilian Atlantic Hillside, it is ideal for practicing mountain sports, such as climbing, trails (there are more than 200km on various levels of difficulty), abseiling, trekking and has beautiful waterfalls.

​

The park receives many visitors during the year, both in summer and winter. Demand is facilitated by the proximity of Rio de Janeiro (93km).

How to get

The Urikana Boutique Hotel is located on the plateau of Serra dos Órgãos, municipality of Teresópolis, Rio de Janeiro - RJ.

 

Located just 15 minutes from the center of Teresópolis, the altitude of 1,000m guarantees a pleasant mountain climate around 19 degrees. In winter, the temperature drops to 10 degrees providing cozy evenings around the fireplace.
